The Faculty of Science is clearly distinguished by it icon, the University tower, which is located in the heart of the Faculty. The tower and the associated buildings had come up in the early part of the last century and were used by the University College till the establishment of the University of Ceylon in 1942. University of Colombo Science & Technology Cell (UCSTEC)

The Cell (UCSTEC) will help us to serve the nation more directly by enhancing the interaction among the university, industry and community. Further, this would provide an opportunity for the undergraduates to interact with industry thus creating an awareness of industrial needs among them.

A two-day seminar for A/L Physics teachers organized by the Physics Education Unit of the Department of Physics, University of Colombo will be held on the 17th (Monday) & 18th (Tuesday) of August 2009 at the Department of Physics of the University of Colombo.

Pre Academic Programme for New Entrants-2008/2009 Intake
Faculty has arranged series of pre academic activities under this programme. It will be started on August 03rd 2009.

The new semester will be started on 31st of August.
1st semester will be started on 31st of August after semester 2 examination. The final exam paper will be held on 7th of August.
