The study of chemistry is one of the best ways that you can come to understand your universe. It affords an insight into the working of the physical world that is hidden to the ordinary person and provides a foundation for work in many different areas. In chemistry, we investigate the molecular world -- enzymes, atmospheric gases, semiconductors, catalysts, dyes, neurotransmitters, carbohydrates, drugs, pheromones and polymers. Our tools and methods include chemical synthesis, spectroscopy, computational modelling, and diverse suite of instrumentation.

At Colombo, Chemistry is at the heart of the molecular sciences, and our department conducts five special degree programs: in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, Pharmacy and Computational Chemistry. We also incorporate Biophysical and Medicinal Chemistry, Nanoscience and Materials Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry into our chemistry program. This training will provide a solid educational foundation for careers in Chemistry and related fields.
