B.Sc. Special degree in Physics in 1978 with a Second Class Upper Division from University of Colombo.

Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematical Physics from Department of Mathematics, University of Colombo in 1980.

Ph.D. in Theoretical Solid State Physics February 1989, University of New South wales, Australia.
