Ishan Jallil is a 3rd year undergraduate student of the Faculty of Arts, majoring in International Relations, becoming the first blind person to do so in Sri Lanka. As for his present activities within the university, he is a member of the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Arts Faculty and was the International Understanding Director of the afore mentioned club for the Rotaract year July 2011 to July 2012, being the first disabled person to hold a post in the club, as well as, in Rotaract District 3220. Also, Ishan is a member of the Arts Faculty English Debating Society, fulfilling his role as an adjudicator.
As for his activities outside the university, Ishan is the President of Young Voices Sri Lanka, the youth group of Leonard Cheshire Disability, a registered charity in the UK. In that capacity, the Young Voices aims to protect, promote and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of rights by persons with disabilities, as per the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. furthermore, ishan has attended in several national and international conferences, even by going to the UN headquarters in New York in July 2011, to participate at the International Year of Youth Conference. Also, he volunteers for the UN Volunteers and have volunteered in 2 of their projects so far, namely the Colombo +20 Conference and the International Youth Day Celebrations. at present, Ishan Jallil fulfill the role of Motivational Speaker of the Standard Chartered Bank.
Supun Jayawardhana is a talented and a bright student in the 3rd year, university of Colombo, Faculty of Law. regardless of his visual impairment, he has proven to be a remarkable student that the University has produced so far. In that context, he became the batch 2nd in the first years of his University career, and went on to become the batch top in the 2nd year, against all odds. "have a clear target in mind and go for it" said Supun as his message for the disabled community.
sankha is a second year student in the faculty of education, University of Colombo, doing his studies in English medium. Other than for his educational skills, it is astonishing to note that he used to be a good chess player when he had his eye sight. Even now, regardless of his visual impairment, he still continues to play chess.
menuka sujani is a first year student of the faculty of Arts who has a special talent as a good singer and exceptional lyricist. In that capacity, she has sung a song for music album titled "vikasitha sith" which was produced by the Sri lanka Council of Visually impaired graduates.
Sanath gunarathna is another talented student in the first year, faculty of Arts. He too is an excellent lyricist and his songs was featured in the music album "vikasitha sith". He has also proven to be a remarkable script writer since one of his drama script was chosen to be performed at an upcoming arts festival in the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo.
