Livia Dai - Sumedha
The day before we eight students got onto the plane to Colombo was my 21st birthday. It was supposed to be a celebration of youth and delightfulness; however, I spent the whole day in depression, worrying about the following six months in another country-Sri Lanka. It is not about the country itself, but rather my own fear of unfamiliar environment and homesickness. Six months away from motherland and into a totally new and quite different world. And sadness due to parting my dear friends all rushed to me like haunting ghosts.

Nipuni
I had a pleasant and wonderful study course in Sri Lanka between November, 2012 and April, 2013. During the course, I not only learnt a lot about the Sinhala language but also made friends with many students in the University of Colombo and travelled around Sri Lanka. There is no wonder that the days in Sri Lanka is completely different from the days in China. I think I was quite lucky to have such skilful teachers to help me learn Sinhala language, Sinhala culture and Sinhala literature which made me comprehend the word Sinhala more profoundly. In terms of Sinhala, they are more professional than my Chinese teachers.

And so did J.B.Disanayaka Sir. He often made vivid metaphor and jokes to delight us during lectures despite that he is the thumb in Sinhala culture studies.
