The Centre for the Study of Human Rights was established in 1991 at the Faculty of Law with the objective of contributing to and promoting human rights educational and research activities for the university community as well as the public at large.
To promote greater public awareness and recognition of human rights issues, the CSHR conducts structured programmes for various target groups.
It provides an internship programme for law graduates as well as overseas graduates.
Selected interns are placed either at the CSHR itself or leading NGOs and HRC for periods ranging from three to six months.
The CSHR conducts a human rights training programme for newly passed out lawyers on human rights litigation as well as a Diploma programme for human rights activists.
The Centre hosts a library which contains a good collection of books, journals and reports on national, international and comparative human rights law and related subjects.
It offers reading, reference and photocopying services to the University Community and the members of the public.
