HSR Unit
HSR (Health System Research) Unit functions under the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Colombo. The staff include three professors, two senior lecturers, two lecturers and other staff.
The vision of the unit is to uphold research and training to contribute to the development of the country and mankind.
Objectives of the institute
- To undertake health system research projects through funds from international and national agencies.
- To provide support to the Ministry of Health and other organizations by conducting HSR activities to support their programmes.
- To develop a system for disseminating information available from research, to relevant organizations/institutions.
- To develop a collaborative research programmes with other institutions within and outside the country.
- To strengthen the capacity of the Department in contributing towards HSR activities.
- Activities/ services provided by the institute.
- Organizing and conducting teaching/ training programmes.
- Design and conduct research initiated by HSR unit.
- Disseminating research findings at national and international forums (travel, registration, accommodation)
HSR Unit successfully conducted a workshop from 11/01/2011 to 14/01/2011 on Data analysis to the medical and paramedical staff of the Medical Research Institute (MRI) of Ministry of Health.
