ABOUT US

The Medical Faculty Students Union is the official representative body of the students in the Faculty of Medicine Colombo. The Students’ Union has been enacted in the Parliament of Sri Lanka in the Universities act 16 of 1978. 

The Students’ Union of the Faculty of Medicine Colombo stands firm against the introduction of national politics and all forms ragging into the faculty. Through this they have created a serene environment within the faculty which has paved the way to an uninterrupted educational record for the past 16 years.  

The MFSU as it is commonly known is committed to look after the students’ needs and rights. 

The introduction of the Common MCQ as a basis for the island ranking at the final MBBS was one of the major victories the students’ union achieved during the past few years. 

The Students Union is also committed to make the faculty premises a pleasant place for all the students. Refurbishments of the common room, allocation of study areas, the yearly “Shramadana” Campaign are some of the activities that are conducted under the patronage of the union. 

The implementation of the new cleanliness program inside the faculty including the introduction of the 5s system will be one of the things to look forward this year.

 The Union is elected annually.
