Career Guidance Unit

1. Communication Skills Programme for University of Colombo School of Computing and Faculty of Science IT students was organized in collaboration with the UCSC on 6^th March 2004. The resource person was Mr. Neranjan de Silva, CEO of Metropolitan Computers. This was funded by the ADB.

2. How to write a perfect CV: This was conducted for 200 students of the Faculty of Science on 28^th April 2004 at the Chemistry Lecture Theatre. The resource person was Dr. K. M. Nalin de Silva, Director, Career Guidance Unit. This was organized and funded by the Chemical Society, University of Colombo.

3.  A workshop and a field trip for students of Journalism Unit of Faculty of Arts and Sripalee Campus was held on 5^th and 6^th of June 2004 at Uva Communication Radio Station. The resource persons were from the radio station and our students were closely supervised and trained by experts in the Radio Station. This was funded by the ADB. The certificate award ceremony was held at the Senate Hall on 23^rd August 2004. Prof. Tilak Hettiarachchi was the Chief Guest and the other guests included Rector/Sri Palee Campus, Dean/Faculty of Arts and the Acting Registrar.

4. A major workshop for all second year students of the Faculty of Arts will be held on 2 September 2004 at the New Arts Theatre. A team of  resourse persons from Sampath Bank will conduct the workshop. This will be funded by the ADB.

5. A full day workshop on communication skills will be held in August at UCSC auditorium for undergraduates of Faculty of Arts. The objectives of the workshop are to develop communication skills and introducing the professionalism in public speaking and other presentations. This is aimed to strengthen the employability of our graduates who follow Journalism at the Faculty of Arts.
