Community
The
programme aims at providing awareness of human rights to the public at large,
which section is least exposed to information on human rights. It is envisaged
that this would provide an opportunity for community groups to understand the
rights they are entitled to and cognize how human rights protection mechanisms
become relevant in pragmatically solving their economic, political and social
problems.
The
programme participators comprise groups of farmers, workers, housewives,
unemployed youth who are not attached to any educational institution. They are
exposed to human rights through practical and need based activities. The
methodology used is flexible and varies with different environments.
To
serve this purpose, community centres are established by the CSHR in selected
villages representing different types of communities in various geographical
locations. Or else the CSHR assists community centres which were already in
existence with advice, training, lectures and workshops.
