Mass Media

Radio Programmes

The CSHR has many years' experience in conducting radio programmes. A network of resource persons is in place to assist in these programmes. The programmes consist of a question and answer series where resource persons are involved in providing solutions to the queries made by listeners, drama, quiz, and formation of groups. People are provided with general awareness of human rights, and specific knowledge is given through responses to their queries. The CSHR hotline is also advertised through this programme and many call on the hotline to seek solutions to their problems. The CSHR feels that this is the best media to reach out to the rural areas, which are least accessed by others with information. Radio is the main or mostly the only means of communication for rural people with the outside world.

A weekly radio programme, conducted over Lakhanda is “ Reka Demu Himikam, Reka Gamu Himikam” and goes on the air on Tuesday at 7.30 p. m.

Records reveal that these programmes are very popular, specially in the outstation areas. Several letters are received from listeners of these programmes.

 Poster Campaigns

Printed material such as books, leaflets and a poster campaign will be other modes of getting the human rights message across to the public.
