HUMAN RIGHTS PUBLICATIONS

Human Rights Quarterly Magazine (Sanvada)

"Sanvada" commenced as "Human Rights Dossier" with the objective of providing the trainees of CSHR’s school and community centres with reading material on human rights in Sinhala, Tamil and English. While some schools lack reading material in the subject, certain schools in rural areas have no libraries at all. Therefore the CSHR compiled a dossier with a collection of articles in all three languages photocopied and bound together. It proved to be very successful.

Each dossier was comprised of a collection of articles on a different human rights issue. After a few issues, the CSHR began to receive fresh articles written exclusively for the dossier. Therefore now it is a printed periodic issue, called "Sanvada," with valuable articles written afresh.

The magazine is in heavy demand by the school and community centres, the students of the Faculty of Law, Faculty members and others interested. Recently a consortium of NGOs has requested a number of copies of each issue, to be distributed among its members.
