External Degree Program (EDP)
The Ministry of Higher Education has taken steps to allocate funds under the World Bank funded HETC project to set up EDPs at different Universities in Sri Lanka. The proposal submitted by the University of Colombo was successful and the University will receive Rs. 25 million for this purpose. Four activities are proposed under this project
- Improving governance & management
- Improve quality & relevance of EDPs
- Enhance learning resources & learner support services
- Promote collaboration with state/non-state training institutions.
These funds will be utilized to strengthen the already existing BIT program offered by UCSC and reinstate the EDP offered by the Law faculty (L.L.B) with on-line components. Furthermore, the Faculty of Arts will start a new program which is Bachelor of Economics (B. Econ.) and Faculty of Science will start two new programs on Bachelor of Technology (Electronics & Information Technology) and Bachelor of Science (Financial Engineering).
